It does not take "standard" 9mm ammunition. "Standard" 9mm is a 9x19 and the Makarov is 9x18. It is very similar to a .380 in size according to the pictures I saw of each load. Below is some info on it, I hope it is big enough for you to read, if not let me know and I can make it bigger.

I can't read the insert, but will look up the pistol later, going fishing.. I Have the HI POINT Rifle, mod 995. That looks like an assault rifle. and the Caliber is marked 9mm X 19... Is that the same as 9X19. looks as though I have been using 9mm Luger, ammo if that is different ?

Yes, I clicked on the Picture, and it came up full screen.. I think that I will swallow my pride, and go back to buy that hand gun. I really like the looks of it, Stainless steel frame, with blued Barrel, maybe 5 " barrel on it. The guy really TEED me off. After standing while he waited on another customer, He ignored me, and went to cleaning his display case top. Glad his business is so good, that he don't need my money. Maybe Tuliver can get one for me.. PS.. Got some nice Bluegill today. Supper awaits..

3 AM " can't sleep, thinking about that tormented KBI... Wished I didn't get up on my tin ear, and bought it then.. I have been told some things since then. For one. it doesn't take the same 9mm that my rifle uses, No.2-- The KBI is an unknown brand to my collector SON. and No.3-The 9X18mm Ammo is hard to come by. I have the NATCHES Shooting Supply catalog. It lists three manufacturers of the 9X18mm, ammo, from $19.95 to $8.95. for the low ball.. Anybody Know anything about KBI.

OK HERE'S The ACTUAL DOPE. I bought the Gun.. No MKI, The Gun itself is marked KBI-HBG,PA. under that is FEG-HUNGARY. It Carry's a four digit serial number, preceded with GI. The paperwork, list the Cal, as 380, But the Barrel has 9mm MAK.
KBI is an importer based in Harrisbug, PA. FEG is the hungarian manufacturer. They specialize in copying very successful designs, such as this copy of the Russian Makarov. They also do a version of the Hi-Power and PPK. That 9X18 ammo is very easily gotten and you can stock up on it for a song. If no other sources are available check most decent gun shows or the ads in the Shotgun News. I sure hope you like it, it looks great! Here's a few things I found "The Hungarian firm of Fegyver es Gepgyar (FEG) is one of the oldest and most well established arms houses in Europe, having furnished arms to Hungary from the Hapsburgs to the communists, and beyond. Today FEG is best known for the inexpensive, but extremely well made, clones of pistols such as the Browning High Power and the Walther PP and PPK that are sold in the United States." I'll keep my guns, my money and my freedom, you can have the change!
Well" Guys. I got my ammo for it.. Loaded it up, all set for protection.. Guess SAFETY is so embed in my sole, that I couldn't leave it loaded.. I took the Shell out of the chamber, Removed the Clip, and hid it where I can get it in a flash. Then placed the Gun in a secure place in my Bedroom.. Feel better now.

I haven't shot this Hand Gun yet, However, I took it apart. SOOO easy, and fast. 20 seconds, or less. The Trigger guard pulls down in front, and then the top slide gets pulled back, and unhooked. Very easy, much better than the LLama..
