I have hunt next weekend at Prentice Cooper and would like to know if anybody has ever hunted it and has any info. We will be camping for three days on the north end. Anything would be appreciated. We've scouted some but are going back this weekend and was wondering if we should go deep or not.

I hunted there last year during the rifle season. It is a nice WMA and has good deer on it. Tons of foodplots. I would either look for a water supply next/close to a food plot. I would rather hunt close to a water supply than a food plot, but if you have both, all the better. I will be there also. A friend of mine's FIL has a hotel/motel that we will be staying in about 15 min away. I will be in a green Chevy Z-71 flareside. I have the THF graphics in the back window. If you see me, holler at me and we will talk.

I'll look ya up. We are camping and will be in a green jeep Cherokee or a maroon chevy step side. We found a good spot today that has both so we were thinking along the same lines. Scary lol

Had a GREAT CAMPING trip. The hunting sucked. The weather didn't cooperate and with a couple of hundred trucks and four wheelers going in at once..... The deer cleared out. Wish we had of hunted the bottom side like we thought about doing. Had a great spot about a mile past ya Doc, water, food plot, and bed area. Had to be better than the cemetery. Everything is already dead there. LOL!!! I saw ya Sat. night when ya came out. I was at the checking station when they brought the last two doe and the LITTLE 8 pointer. Two doe weight 108 and 92, and the buck weighed 88. Small basket rack. Two sixes were the first ones out. Not good hunting for most. I don't think I will put in for it next year. But had a great weekend any ways. How was yours? Hope it was better than mine.

I didnt hunt around the cemetary. That is just where we parked. Went about a mile down the road and then hit some of the side trails. Sunday we drove 7 miles in with the truck and hunted. I saw some fawms and yearling doe, but they wouldnt step out into a clearing for me to shoot. I thought about moving trees around lunch time, but I was in the best tree there(I felt) so I stayed put. They came around 3 times and walked closer to the field each time, just never commiting. I wanted to stay and hunt Mon, but my buddy had to be back for a wedding. I have been meaning to post the whole story, but I have changed jobs and have been coming home tired and hungry. I pretty much check my email, eat and crash out.
I saw the doe laid on the scales. When I stopped, we were checking the 4-wheelers to make sure they were strapped down good. The drive was farther than I thought. We were staying in Kimball and it took about 40 min to drive there and up the mountain.

Yeah I was in about the same situation. I knew I had a good spot and didn't wanna change either. The squirrels loved my ground blind, especially bouncing acorns off of it. LOL! We would have liked to stay till Mon. too but we had to work (didn't wanna use all of our vac. time) and my buddy's son had to go to school. ( he already missed Fri.) Yeah Kimball is a pretty good drive from there. Wish it could've been better. Good luck with the new job and I know how you feel about eating, checking email and crashing.
