Its been a rough week.. Patsy has run out of time. Monday we rushed her to emergency at St Marys Hospital in Amsterdam. From there she was sent by Ambulance to Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Specialist discover that she has two blocked Heart Valves. The lack of sufficiant blood flow is affecting her lungs, and kidneys, and prevents surgery to unplug the Valves. The ICU emergncy treatments over 3 days has improved her somewhat. She wants to come home. Today, her Doctor laid out the hard facts. They cant do anymore for her, Cant fix her heart without killing her. She will be comming home with family approval. No chance to survive. Hopefully she will see christmas. but it is doubtful. Jer

I'm very sad to hear that Jer. We know of her past health problems and of your efforts throughout the years. You have been there for her all along and I'm sure no one could have done more. I wish there were words that could ease your pain, but I feel no matter what I could say it would fall short of helping. I do know if were me, I'd want to be in my home with my family to meet the end together when it comes. I pray that you might yet share Christmas together. Don

I've been with her every day. Her 3 daughters took the week off from work to be with her also. Patsy doesn'r seem to be stressed much. She smiles, and jokes with the nurse. I guess that she is tired of being sick. Her place is at home with her Cigarettes, Coffee. and John Wayne movies. This is part of the reason that I came back to NY. Nobody in TN except friends. Tomorrow we meet with Hospice Officials, to talk about services. After that, we hope to get Patsy released. Jer

Patsy isn't home yet.. The turmoil that this has caused is really something.. I think about the past, and the future, but am afraid to dwell on the preasent. Patsy seems to be haveing fun, enjoying the attention, telling family what she wants to be buried in, makeing jokes about the Doctors insistance on Oxygen instead of smoke. Maybe she is doing all that for us ? All I know for sure, is that she wants to come home. I entered this post on TH&F because of the pleasure that she got over the years when she was used as jokes against me. I read those to her, and of course she would agree with ya. Snow cover here, and I have to drive 32 miles to Schenectady in it.. Jer

Sounds like she is having the last laugh. Seems to be in good spirits given the situation.

Patsy tosses her Oxygen, Staggers 20 ft. and puffs away at her Cigs. Wont use the walker, wont allow the use of a wheelchair. I carry a tank of portable oxygen in the Van. If she almost collapses in the parking lot. I hook her up in the Van. She is neither better, or worse. Just makeing it day by day.. Wants constant service at the snap of her finger. This has caused some altercations.. .especially in the morning when I need my first cup of Coffee. We had a great Christmas.. Didn't bother with New Years. Went to bed at 8... Jer
