Hunters in the eastern woods have traditionally hunted deer with lever action rifles. I was surprised this year to have found that to still be true in my area. I was curious what type of rifle you use?

Bolt action for me and the lever being a close second

Bolt action, if I had to go with anything else it would be a Pump.

I had to answer lever action. I have used it more this year than my .270 Remington 700.

I hunt with a winchester model 94 lever action and a enfield 308 bolt action.

Bolt action for me. I don't use anything else. I used to have a Marlin 30-30 lever action when I was a kid but, everything else was bolt actions. If I had to pick a second choice, I would probably go with a single shot. I have always been fond on a single shot as it makes one concentrate to make that first shot count.

Marlin in 45/70....is there anything else? ?? Seriously, my Ruger MKII in .308 is going to be my next go to rifle. That is if I can figure out how to make that .308 kill as well as my 45/70....

I've killed deer with a whole lots of different rifles and I have yet seen one deer more dead than the other. ;D I have dropped deer in their tracks with a 243 up to a 7mag. and I tend to put more faith in myself than the rifle it's self. You can do it! ;D

I'm just used to seeing them drop NOW after being hit, rather than running off for however many yards with the .308's and 30/06's that I've witnessed the past couple of years.
Artillery is no small second place when killing something.

Always liked the Winchester 30-30 Mod. 94, for style. Thought it a little lite for big game.. I would use a bolt action Military type, and go for Head, or neck shots. However. I still use my 12 ga pump at close range for Knock Down..

Artillery is no small second place when killing something. This year was the second time that I've used a .243. The little cousin of the .308, yet the deer dropped on the spot the same as the last one. I do however have a lot more faith in a 45/70's ability. Don

Bolt action for long range accuracy. Lever action for snap style shooting.

Bolt action for long range accuracy. Lever action for snap style shooting. Don't like SNAP, shooting.. Won't shoot at a running DEER.... I have seen nice DEER shot so full of holes before they drop, that I could cry...

I use my Ruger .44 mag. carbine semi-auto in thick cover or my Win. 12 pump with slugs!
