I know I should know this since it is my rifle, but I dont.
I have a 243 and a 7mm mag
Is the 243 a short action and the 7mm mag a long action?
I have been struggling with this for awhile now. I would like to get a new stock for my 243 and now choates does not have a short action in the savage 110...
Can someone give me a definite answer please!

psycho, This is from the owner of Savage Shooters Forum: Measure the distance between the action screws.
Long action = 5.062 "J" or intermediate action = 4.522 Short action = 4.275 (All in inches)
Let me know how you make out with it, but if I were betting, my money would be on the "J" intermediate action. Don

I am thinking it is the screws under the stock that hold the action and barrel in.....Just a guess.

OK I have 3 screws under the stock.. It is the main one for the stock to barrel and 2 around the trigger... I got a meas of just over 5" from the stock-barrel screw and the next screw towards the trigger... I guess its a long action?

psycho, Congratulations! Your now the proud owner of a Savage 110 long action. They have quite a few stocks available for them. One other issue you might come across is the magazine. Is it a blind magazine with no opening on the bottom of the stock, does it have a floorplate that opens to allow you to dump out the un-fired ammunition, or does it have a removable magazine? That factor will make a big difference in your options. Don

Your in luck, the blind magazines are the easiest to find aftermarket stocks for. There are lots of manufacturers of both wood and synthetic stocks for that rifle.
