All I've been cranking out is my 45-70 with blackpowder. Need to get on some .220 Swift and if my buddy would get me some bullets over here...some 38-55 for him. Course getting his wife to let him go cast some bullets is another story. ;D She did let him come over to the shop Friday night for a bit...that surprised me. Course he couldn't stay long. Also has him weaned off beer now. ;D

lol. theres only 1 reason i like women and i cant say it here because there may be kids reading.... ;D. i have thought about casting and reloading for myself, but i dont shoot enought to do it. of course the only thing i would need to buy would be molds for my .50 cal. round balls. already have some lead, and my brother has a press for me to use to reload my .270(he has dies) and .204(id have to get the dies) plus buy my powder and other supplies.

You decide to get started and you'll have plenty of help with questions on these sites. I enjoy both reloading and casting regardless of how much shooting I get in. Friday nights is usually my casting night. Look forward to it.

nope. Been busy working and getting everything ready for deer season. I will have to do it after the season. I have spent to much time and money in food plots and getting the fields ready. Plus I am kinda liking the Hornady ammo. It is what my rifle likes. Makes them touch. I still havent sent my NEF .204 Ruger back to have the trigger done yet either. I am working till dark almost everyday. When Im not working late, I am in the woods.

I think I may just do that, Bubba. I do like working with the deer though. It feels good to see improvements that I made happen with them. I also mess around with tying flies(for trout) on occasion. I havent done that since back in the spring though. Need to because they(TWRA) are going to stock on Fri. Dec. 9. I am ready for that, but need one more deer so I can take a day off to hit the water. By the way, Welcome to Tennessee Hunt and Fish Bubba. Always good to have a new member.
P.S. Have you seen some of the .45/70 slugs that Quigs. has been pumping out?

No, on the 45/70 bullet sighting.
I pretty much roll my own as regarding cast bullets for the 45/70 as my trapdoor requires special diameter bullets that noone else mass produces. .461 (sized) in case anyone is wondering.
The only exception is the 350 grain leads that I put through my Marlin while shooting our levergun shoots in the club. I do buy them as to not deplete my casting supply of materials.

I'll get him to post pics. They are some 500 grainers that he makes himself. Talk about slinging lead, woooo weee.

Here's a pic of that 550gr. flat point next to my old favorite 535gr. Postell. These in the pic are loaded with 70grs. of Goex Cartridge grade powder and an .030 wad. The flat point is a new one for me from an old Lyman mold.

Those look like some nice hunting bullets. Mine are cast from a mountainmolds.com/ mold. I've been exceedingly happy with the bullets dropping out of this mold. If I had a digi camera I'd take some pics of the bullets... They look a bit like those pointed ones in your pic, Quigley. The only downside of my mold is that now I want to get one that is flatter nosed for my Trapdoor, and a flatnose for my Marlin 1895 lever. The one that I have is a double cavity mold, and it drops bullets that are within 1.2 grains of eachother (505 grain bullet) from right/left side of mold. It is much more consistent than I am. And the price is very affordable.
