Has anyone tried any 300-350 gr. cast lead bullets and had good accuracy? What brand and what powder, type and size of primer? Anyone use Redding dies? I am going to deer hunt with rifle. I am checking prices and found dealer in Brighton with best price so far. I am going to wally world and see if they have H&R in their special order book!

Let's see... I've tried MANY different boolits, weights, and types. Mostly out of other guns than my H&R unfortunately for you. As far as boolits/powder/primer combos, that depends upon your rifle preferences. Usually you should get good results with most primers. I'd personally recommend Starline brass, but Winchester ranks a close second. I use both Lee and RCBS dies in my RCBS turret press for the 45/70. One set is for the 500 grainers and the other set is for the levergun/flatnose boolits. Same sizer used for all, just different seater/crimping done for all. As for the 300/350 grainers, I found that commercial cast boolits may work, but you must take care to not push the velocities too high, as most of them are bevel based so GC's can't be used. They are hard enough for general use, and should work for deer, just make sure that you get the correct type of nose (one that has enough flat nose area) for better killing power/hydraulic shock value. I am currently shooting a Lee 325 gr flatnose plain base cast out of WW in my SBDB Marlin. So far I've had great luck with the boolit, just haven't shot anything alive with it yet. No leading to speak of. Don't worry if you can't find it in their current catalog, it was a "closeout" or whatever that I picked up off their website for $14. www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1097627761.3805=/html/catalog/surplus.html if you want to look there....

Just happened to look at the Lee site, and there are still some left. Look for the 457-325-F listing. That is it. That C457-455-F looks interesting, it is a GC 455 flatnose. Just wish that I could see a picture of the actual boolit. I'm assuming it looks alot like their 457-450-F here www.leeprecisioncatalog.com/2007/lg_display.cfm?page_number=29&catalog=060153 just with a GC on the base. That 325 boolit I have looks alot like the 350 grainer on this page also, just cut a bit different for the weight change.
