Has anyone tried them using Reloader 7 powder? They seem to be the most reasonable for box of 100.

For powder in the 45/70 I tend to stick with the H4198 in the heavier boolits, and 5744 in the lighter boolits.
When going with the copper condom bullets, then H4198 gets the nod also.
A friend that shoots with me uses Winchester 760 in his 45/70s, and another uses IMR4198....I could give you a whole bunch of different powder choices for you. Just pick one and try it. The one that uses the Winchester powder prefers RL19 (I think) but it isn't available anymore. The guy that shoots the IMR 4198 has been shooting that powder for about 25 years now.

I see Rem. corelok 300gr. is most reasonable of jacket bullets. I ck.ed Alliant powder booklet it has the Reloader 7 used fer 300gr. I just happened to have a can a half of it to use up. Used to load up some decent loads fer a 35 Rem. using 180gr. smack the u know what out of deer. I will start off using min. load and work up fer group size. If it has good groups at min. that will be great.

I use Remington and Hornady JHP's interchangeably in my Marlins for deer hunting. Never did notice any point of impact shift between the two.
