I have been wanting a heavier caliber upper for my AR15 for some time. I chose the 6.5 Grendel upper, 19.5" bull barrel with flat top. This caliber shoots the very aerodynamic 6.5mm bullets, which have some of the highest BC out there. It seems to me that an AR is the perfect gun for hog hunting, hogs rarely travel alone, so lots of follow up shots. Several companies make the Grendel, including Sabre arms of Nashville. It would have been cool to have bought a complete rifle from them, with Nashville TN on the lower but....... $1500 was a bit much for me right now. I got my upper from Alexander arms who developed the round. I mounted it on my Bushmaster lower which already has the superb JP trigger in it so.... I used another Dednutz one piece mount for the scope, one piece seems the way to go if you ask me. I got a Nikon Monarch 3/12 *40 scope on it which gives a good field of view at 3 times and 12 mag is enough for a big game gun. Finally got to shoot it and it is sweet. Brian blew up a couple of milk jugs with it, so 50 yard milk jug hunting has now been tested. ;D

Great choice! The freefloat tube with two swivels should make a nice setup for a bipod and long distance shooting. Now you just need to add the .50 Beowulf and you'll complete the set. LOL Now tell me about the floor, Pergo? Don

Hi Don, the flooring is actually Armstrong. We got it from Lowes and it was $1.99 sq ft, with a 20 year guarantee. I am saving to get it in every other room in the house, 1000ft done, another 1000 sq ft to go!! The Beowulf is somewhere in my future. I would like one with the Eotech sight and 3 times magnifier. I reckon that would be devastating on anything within 200 yards. Have you seen them both on Future weapons? They both look pretty impressive, for something in the AR platform.

A friend ordered the Beowulf this past Xmas. It is impressive. He is ex-military and a big AR fan. I'd guess he probably owns at least a dozen different versions and several new stripped receivers that are just waiting in his safe. I've used Pergo in three rooms so far and love it. One room has had it for 12 years or more and it still hasn't developed one scratch despite several dogs. That was the original Pergo that had to be glued together. It was a real pain in the butt, but the new snap together is a dream to install. My recently finished office has hard wood and while I like the look better than the laminates, I had to change two pieces after scratching them moving desks in. BTW, I recently made the oak desks myself. I still want to do my living room floor and it will be laminate. I've read good reports on the Armstrong laminates, but I haven't seen them offered locally. Thanks for the beowulf thing Don, I was already thinking that and now....... The thought consumes me like a raging furnace. Have you shot the thing? Seems like a great addition to my AR upper collection. Don, the floor is available through Lowes. I have 2 dogs, a cat and 2 humans in the house and it is bullet proof! Well, I haven't tried it literally but certainly tough enough to drag furniture round on unscathed.
