I lent a friend's son my 30-30. They came up the weekend before last with a 7-08. The boy is 11 and small, I suggested they try the 30-30 first. His dad then shot the 7mm and the 30-30 got more than a nod, the 7 would have knocked thr boy over. The lad shot a 4 pointer through the chest at 60 yards. He blooded my rifle for me! There is another hunter for the future. I feel very happy for him and my rifle.

;D The right thing to do now, is give him the rifle. How can you deprive that Daniel Boone from owning the Rifle that he killed his first Deer with... Easy, tell him "sorry, but nope!". I carried Jason and his daughter to Manchester this morning. The action was kind of slow at first, but picked up as the morning went on. She finally got a shot on a little 4pt and managed to hit the barb wire fence when she shot and missed. We sat for another 1.5 hours and managed to see several more deer, just none in range.

All it takes is to go where the deer are. I think we saw 11-12 today.
