I'm heading to Laurel Hill for the quota hunt November 14-16. Does anyone have info on the location of safety/no hunting zones. I'm trying to do my mapping and research but can't find any boundaries for the off-limit areas. I saw a safety zone sign near VFW lake when I was scouting but didn't take the time to follow the line...
Thanks in advance.

Yep, I downloaded that and sucked into Arc GIS and started overlaying it on aerials and topo maps. I also found a boundary file you can download at the same site that shows all the WMA boundaries in the state. Problem is, neither shows safety zones. One of the areas I've picked out based on topography is close to one of the lakes. I'm afraid its in a safety area.

Report...
Saw a lot of scraggly little bucks and a ton of does. Not enough people showed up for the hunt to keep the deer moving and those that did show up all tried to hunt the same areas I'd picked out from the topo. Guess I did a good job picking
Great looking area but I think its going to be a few years before the 9 point rule starts paying off. Right now, bucks seem small. Does are plentiful but I found you had to walk so far to get away from the crowds that you didn't want to fool with trying to drag a doe out. Especially when you have a place with easier access at home.
One story - My buddy did see a large buck but couldn't get a good count on the number of points and let it walk. The deer went over the ridge and BOOM another hunter apparently was able to count...
Bad part - the guy went back and got his 4-wheeler and drove into the woods to drag it out. Ruined the whole hollow for the rest of the day. If I'd been able to get a cell phone signal - I'd have been awful tempted to call the squirrel cops.
