The number is 041. I picked it up this afternoon and I already installed the Wild West Guns extractor and Happy Trigger along with the XS ghost ring sight set which replaced the Hi-Viz sights it came with. The original trigger wasn't near as bad as some I've had from Marlin, it measured 4 1/4lbs., but the new trigger is so much smoother and measured 3lbs. I have to adjust those sights at the range, but I think it's about hog huntin' ready! Here's a photo, although of somewhat limited quality. Don

I just got back from the range with this new rifle and learned a thing or two. First off the accuracy with four different loads was very consistent, it stunk! Every load I tried was grouping around four inches at fifty yards. However all is not lost as I don't believe the fault lies with either the rifle or the loads, but rather with my eyes and their inability to cope with iron sights at this stage of my life. My eyes started going down hill about twelve years ago and after developing type 2 diabetes a bit more than a year ago, they have only gotten worse. So as much as I hate to do it I'll be putting a fixed low power scope on the rifle before my next trip to the range. It is, to say the least, extremely frustrating. Don

I had took my red dot off my SBDB because of the cheekweld that I had to use. It was too high for my taste. I was going to pick up one of those leather cheekpieces like the WWI style, and just never got around to it....now I have sold that sight, and just reverted back to opens.

I think a red dot would work for me if I got one that had a bit of magnification. However good ones like the EO Tech with a 3X magnification start around $350 and on up. I think I'll have to make do with the 3x Leupold that I have and see how I make out with that. Don
