Well I was super busy Sunday. My brother and I went hunting on Priest in one of my spots and we were up early. I love having a boat to get out there, but it requires an extra early wake up time to get boat offloaded and get out there. So we get to the boat ramp at 5:20 get changed load the boat, off load the boat, and head out. Got to my spot about 6:15 and got up the tree and waited for day break.
Right at 6:55 about official sunrise, a small doe or button buck started to work out of the thicket to the oak flat, but stopped short. It seems the 20 turkey that were roosted around me were moving and for whatever the reason these deer would look up there and see the turkeys and then move away.
About 7:25 another doe came in with the exact same result. Finally the turkeys left and I sat there till 8:25 and saw another doe traveling through. About 9 am I said to myself about another 15 minutes and I will go get Will (told him I would be there at 9:30). I was actually standing in my stand leaning on the tree when I caught movement to my left in an unexpected place where deer don't usually come form. I looked over and there was a doe eating acorns. She fed away behind some trees and brush and I stood there and waited and waited and waited and finally she fed back out and stood broad side at 15 yards. I shot and got the back of her lungs. She went about 100 yards and piled up.
I got back at 11 and was planing on getting out again around 2 so I had to hurry to cut her up, eat, rest and meet my brother for the afternoon hunt, so no pics. I missed one that night, but hit a beer can between her legs. Seems i miss judged the yardage. funny how things can change while bow hunting.
