Great rifle. Look into Federal blue box(Power Shok) or Wincheser silver box(power point) ammo, cheaper prices.

The Rifle is mine.. My Sons will use it. We found a box of 20 soft nose 150 gr, bullets in a country gun shop for 12.00 What powder grain would be good for 300 yards..

What powder grain would be good for 300 yards.. Are you reloading for it??? You must mean bullet weight? 130gr is a great and usually what most people shoot.

Thank you, BigBlue, for your consideration but don't worry, I won't be fighting over the 270 as I have a good 30-30 and I just acquired a nice 30-06. Maybe this repeat lucky winner should eventually give it to his landlord as an appreciation gift?

Not trying to be alarmist but those ATR's have had a few problems. Several owners have had the bolt head come off during firing. Check out a few internet forums before you decide to keep it. I would sell it and buy a proven safe rifle like a Savage or even the new Marlin bolt actions.
