Bet that this was a "perfect storm" situation: aggressive coyotes, unknowing human, and she probably thought that wild animals were like Walt Disney types...... The following is all speculation: She was hiking along, oblivious to her situation, they confronted her, she acted scared/like prey, they took her down..... A bit of real life knowledge could have made for a much different outcome.
All in all, still too bad. But, remember, the animals have the same rights that humans do. We SHOULD have arrested them and tried them in court!!

Wouldn't surprise me to learn she tried to feed or pet the yote. There was a nut on the news yesterday that saw a deer hit by a car so she went and got a blanket and pillow for the deer and laid it's head on her lap. She was aghast when the cops showed up and shot it. She'd have really been surprised if that deer came out of it and kicked the $hit out of her. Don

She is more lucky than stupid. Very lucky in the fact that this "helpless" deer could have very easily gotten up an laid her open with a few strokes of its hooves.... They do have some defenses, THAT one is hastier than any natural human defense mechanism.
Wait, I retract my statement, she is BOTH stupid and lucky!!!
