Here are some pics from my deer hunt this year. Keep in mind that I was NOT out to save meat this year, view the pics. I was just interested in what kind of damage could be done with the rifle and load. First, the rifle: Second, the deer: outside spinal damage on smaller yearling internal rib/spine damage on yearling Entry wound on normal sized doe kind of hard to see all damage done, but spine and hips destroyed. Lost 1/2 of top rear quarter of meat I think the bottom pic is the better. this shows the yearling's damage done with skin removed. All shooting was done with 180gr SP Wolf Gold line ammo. 140+/- yards with open sights on the PSL. Didn't have the cheekpiece set up for the opening weekend. Now I do, and the rifle is much more shootable for me with the scope on. I'm even thinking of going back to shooting more scope now... Both deer were down before the first 1/2 hour of the season was up. I had fun with this hunting experience. Just wish that I would have been more "in the mindset" for it.

I put this here more for the report on the rifle's ability to connect with authority, than the hunt.

Bubba, Nice pics! I've never tried factory 7.62x54R hunting ammo or handloads in my Mosin Nagant, just surplus ammo which has little or no expansion characteristics so I've never used it for hunting. At about $17 a box for the Wolf Gold Line 180gr. SP it's fairly cheap by today's ammo standards. I'm sure you've tried surplus ammo in your rifle, did you see a big difference in accuracy using the Wolf ammo? It sure does the job! Don
