YEP------- , My Son-in-laws, Niece , won a Million on a Scratch-off. The good ole GOVERNMENT took $335,000.00, right off the top, so I hear.. The Niece gets a bit over $30,000 a year for 20 years..

Yep the great goverment always gets there part .They taxed the money that you paid for the ticket with and then tax your winnings. But the 30,000.00 will be nice all I have ever won is 100.00

Wouldn't surprise me, if the government has their fingers in all the over priced stuff that we need. Awful lot of OBAMA spending going on, and no mention of where the funding is coming from.. I should buy Scratch-ems too.... I seem to be lucky with the Gun Club Tickets. Certainly would be pleased with 500.00 a week for life with a 2.00 ticket....

I woulda chose the lump sum. She is going to be taxed on that $30,000 for the next 20 years. Less troubles with the lump sum. You would have the cash in hand to spend instead of living from $30,000 to $30,000 dollar paycheck.

I agree, DOC... She will pay higher tax as a combined income.. We have a School Tax here that exceeds State and Local taxes if she buys a Home.. With a lump sum, She could have invested in a Tax Shelter, and got a heafty refund from the State and Government..
