I was sitting at the table this noon, and there was a rap on the door. A young Mother, sobbing , ask for help. My son is missing, I cant find him.. she said.. Just new as neighbors a couple month ago, I didn't know her name. They bought the house across the road from me. The family dog was missing also.. Valley hunter, and I dressed for what was to be an easy search.. Deep Snow, makes for easy tracking.. We walked a perimeter around her property, NO TRACKS, any where. The amber alert was sent out. Several police cars, and searchers showed up. I learned that the dog was just a puppy. I found that, with a blue collar. Positive ID, No child with it. The dog was on an embankment, above Nauderack Creek.. No sign of the Boy anywhere. He was 2 1/2 years old. I told the police about the dog, they went to the place above the Creek, Nothing. After and hour, more officers showed up. They were talking in the yard, and decided to return to the place where I found the dog. This time, the little boy was spotted at the bottom of the embankment, Playing in the Creek.. I only wish that I was there when MOM, got her SON back, alive..

The area around their place is open, and quite a distance from the Creek.. It only takes a half minute for a little kid to wonder off. .... The story made it into the Gloversville LEADER HERALD. Paper.. The woman was arrested for Child indangerment, and two police officers named for Heroic actions for locateing the Kid before he died in the fridgid water. Seems that he was waist deep in water, " The creek is 8 inches depth in that area" also, the 60 Ft ridge that he fell over is actually a tad over 30 ft. No mention about the Dog being found before the police were called. According to the Paper, The Police spotted the Dog while searching. Am I PISSED, Darn right I am.. Not the first time the " law " took credit for something that a civilian did..
