You are in a ground blind, using your favorite rifle and this deer is in front of you at 75yds, which shot do you take if any? Explain if you choose. #1This is just for entertainment and you are using a firearm that is legal in your state. It doesnt matter if it is a centerfire rifle or a muzzleloader. There will not be any arguments on whether a rifle is "big enough", as long as it is legal in your state.

Personally I would take option "A"
I feel like option "A" is a solid lung shot with possible liver for good measure.
"C" would be my second opportunity because of the possibility of the shot going up slightly and hitting the top of the heart and some lungs.
The only one that I feel is out of the question is "B". It seems like a 1 lung possibility and a very long recovery if one at all.

Can't really tell from the photo what's behind him if the shot passes through, but if we're assuming the shot is safe to take my first choice is to wait for him to turn and take a side shot to guaranty two lungs. However looking at that rack I might not want to allow him the opportunity to get away. If I'm limited to the four choices mine would be "C". Don

I would pass on the frontal shot, Almost lost a Buck once, doing that.. The Deer pictured would have to turn, one way or other.. He cant run backward.. I would be using my 12 GA. so the top of the hill shot would be safe enough..

Personally I think any of those would work with a decent rifle caliber, although I'd be racking the bolt for a follow up shot. Forced to pick I would go with Psycho and take shot A , probably the best odds of taking the lungs and other vitals out. In reality of course I'd be shaking with excitement and be lucky to hit him at all.

First you mention a decent caliber, then you mistakenly say racking a bolt instead of jacking a lever! Now of course I'll be more than willing to take all this back if you recently bought a 45/70 bolt action. LOL!! Don

My first thought was to use letters A,C,D to form a triangle and then aim for the center.... but after I made my choice in the poll, I changed my mind to the letter C. IMO, all of the choices listed other than B, is a good shot.
Letter B is to far back for the angle he is standing. You may cause some damage to the lungs from the shock wave, but would probably not hit one. You will hit the liver and some internals, just hope its enough that he doesnt suffer for long.

"well "..? If your 45/70 makes that deer look like a garbage can, with the lid off .. fine.. you have to take the blood factor here, no snow, and the deer would bleed inside. How would you track it ? .. ...
