I ordered number 4 and 5 this week. The first is a .22 mag. with a synthetic stock and the second is a Talo Special Edition .357 mag. with a 18" barrel. Should make a nice combination with the S+W Mod. 19. Don

Ever hear of a cartridge called a .357 Maximum? Not many people have. The Maximum is the same dimensions as the .357 magnum with the exception of it's increased length. In this case increased length equals increased powder capacity. The .357 magnum from a rifle is a much different animal than when it's used in a handgun. Increased velocity and in the case of a single shot rifle also increased bullet size. Not being limited by the length of a cylinder in a revolver or in the case of a lever action, not limited by the ability to feed a longer round. Shooting a .357 magnum with a 180gr. bullet with max. loads from a revolver can yield about 1400 FPS, from a rifle about 1800fps. The .357 Magnum Handi-Rifle will shoot .38 spec. or .357 mag. cartridges making it fairly cheap to shoot and fairly diverse. I have a chamber reamer on it's way to rechamber the Handi-Rifle to also shoot the .357 Maximum. It should cost me less than $25 to ream the chamber and will give it the ability to shoot all three from the same barrel. The .357 Maximum can shoot a 180gr. bullet from a rifle at over 2200FPS! It can even handle 220gr. bullets. It should make one heck of a deer gun. Don

I have heard of one, but havent done any reading on it. Sounds like a great round.
Speaking of "odd" rounds, I have been very interested in the .19 Calhoon, .19-223 and the .20 tactical. Of course, the .20 Tactical could be replaced with the .204 Ruger if you wanted to shoot factory ammo.

I thought that was sort of odd seeing how Remington is probably making all the ammo for H&Rs testing since they are owned by the same company. Don

I have never heard that before .... You know what they say though each gun is different. I have heard if you have the 25-06 a great place to start is the factory loaded 117gr Hornady SST's ... I got a box and shot a few ... I will say i think it was more the idiot behind the gun that day but they didnt do as well as the Corelokts. Another round I have had good luck with is the Fed 100 gr BT's ... I stuck with the Corelokts as I thought I would get better penetration from them then that BT Oh and isnt every gun manufacture owned by Cerebus now

I have had a H&R .243, .223, two .22 Hornets and a .357(I still have). Thay will shoot anything and shoot it well if you take the time to tune up the gun. If you hand load thay can be extreamly accurate.

Right now I have an H+R .22 mag. which is scary accurate. A .223 which is easily MOA, .357 Max'ed Trapper, 45 Colt, .45/70 Trapper which is extremely accurate and a .500 S+W. The .357, 45 Colt and .500 S+W I haven't spent enough range time with and still need some more load work. H+Rs have gone up in price over the years, but they are a lot of fun to play with and do their job hunting. If I didn't just get done building that AR I'd be looking to buy their .35 Whelen. Don
