Hello Gents ;D, I'm in the market for a new scope. I currently have a Simmons 3x9-40 Blazer (Not enough zoom) on the rifle. This scope will be primarily used for big game hunting and I would like it to be capable of a 400 yard shot. I'm really looking for something on the cheaper end but don't want to get something that isn't a quality scope. I'd like to keep it in the $150-$250 range. I'd really love to have a Leupold or Nikon but I don't think I can muster the strength to pay the coin for that. I'm nowhere close to the optics expert , so I figured I'd ask someone who knows more about scopes than I do. I'm basically trying to get my best bang for buck on a budget. The rifle the scope will be mounted on will be a Savage 30-06 Model 110 similar to the one shown in the picture below. Thanks for the help in advance. Attachments:

This falls in your price range, is a Nikon and I own 2 of them and they are great scopes. I put one on my Remington 700 .270 Win and one on my .257Wby Vanguard. Very clear, very bright, and the adjustments move like they are supposed to. I ordered 2 of them. With shipping and the NRA round up, my bill came to $340 and I had them in 3 days. www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=149054

Wow, thanks for the quick response Doc. That is a reasonable price for a Nikon. The one's I've been looking at have been in the $300-400 range.

You are probably looking at the buckmaster and monarch scopes. This is the prostaff. It has 90% light tranmission where the monarchs have 95%. They are great scopes but for the money, you can't beat the prostaff. I would also suggest the Vortex line of scopes. Nothing but rave reviews on them, especially the Viper line.
