I recently received some information on the new for 2008 NEF Handi-Rifle offerings. They have created a new frame on which they will be offering two stainless steel 26" barreled magnums, a .300 Win. Mag. and 7mm Rem. Mag. They had originally planned to offer a .338 Win. Mag. as well, but I'm hearing that it has been canceled, at least for now. The firearm distributor, Sports South is already showing them in their online catalog and is listing the .338 Win. Mag. In the past, SB-1 frames were used for shotguns only and the stronger SB-2 frames they have been using for rifle chamberings, but they still couldn't handle the pressures generated by these magnums. Here's my information on the new frame: The frames for the magnums are manufactured with a different alloy and subjected to a special heat treat. This new frame should open up a lot of new opportunities for chamberings in the future. The rifle is listed as having a suggested retail price of $346, but in reality it should be available between $250 and $300. Don

Another new for 2008 rifle is coming from Marlin. It's a totally new line of low cost bolt action rifles called the XL7. It's originally being chambered for long action cartridges, .25-06, .270 and 30-06 and at a real world price of around $280-$305. They come with a synthetic stock in either black or a camo design. It appears that they are being built to compete with the Stevens 200 and the Mossberg 100 ATR rifles. Don

Here's a new one from Remington: Remington will debut the Remington R-15 VTR Predator rifle in 2008, which should appeal to the growing contingent of coyote hunters in Ohio. Chambered in .223 Remington or .204 Ruger with a five-shot clip, it has an AR 15-style military rifle design.
Sometimes called "black" rifles, or even assault rifles, the AR-platform rifles have become increasingly popular in the western states for target shooting and all-around varmint hunting. Remington is building the R-15 VTR with a composite stock like the AR-15 military rifle, but it isn't black. The new modular repeating rifle is dressed in Advantage camouflage and has a $1,000 price tag.

Overtime, Doubletime, it don't seem to matter much. No matter what I make I still have nothing left at the end of the year. So my theory is if you want it, just go get it! The bills will always be there anyways. Don
