The wind was around 20MPH today, but that's less than we've had for a week or more. Either way, I couldn't wait to go shooting any longer. I took the Savage 12FV-S out for it's first shoot. Two loads looked good. The first was an old standby, Winchester USA (white box) 45gr. JHP ammo. It shot five at a 100 yards into .91". The second was five shots of Sierra 53gr. GameKings over 27.0gr. of Varget with a COL of 2.200" into .80". Not bad for an out of the box first day with it. I'm still hoping the groups will tighten up with a bit more break in and a bit less wind. I also took the Weatherby Vanguard Sporter for it's second outing. I could tell it was less affected by the wind. It likes Barnes 150gr. XFB bullets over 65.0gr. of RL19 with a COL of 3.290" and put them into a .55", 100 yard group. I'm very pleased with that and plan to just load more of the same up and go back to adjust the scope. Don Don

I'd say those were very good groups, specially in the wind. I would like to get out and shoot, but i have to build a target frame. I need to get a solid table that is portable. I am working on those at this time.

Very nice groups for a windy day BB. Sounds like you have a couple of winners there. I'd say those were very good groups, specially in the wind. I would like to get out and shoot, but i have to build a target frame. I need to get a solid table that is portable. I am working on those at this time. I shoot off a table my brother built years ago. He found an old school cafeteria table and took the legs off of it and made his. Even cut out handles so that it can be toted around.

I joined a local fish and game club about 18 years ago. They have six shooting ports and a decent range, but it's limited to 100 yards. They do maintain it well and I've never had to wait to shoot, heck most of the time I'm all alone there. They charge me a measly $15 a year. Can't beat that with a stick. Don

I had a great day at the range on Saturday with this rifle. A friend of mine, who also has a Model 12 Savage, told me to try some .233 69gr. Nosler Custom Competition bullets over 26.0gr. of Varget. Well the first three shot 100 yard group was probably the best I've ever shot. It measured a mere .27"! These Savage rifles are real shooters when properly fed. Thanks for posting the picture for me Doc! Don

Thanks for sharing the pic with us. That is a great group, almost a 1/4". That would make it 1/2" at 200 yards, VERY NICE. Keep up the great work and let us know if it tightens up. It cant get to much tighter, but it is always a possibility.
