I did this AK build late last year. It took a lot of research and reading before I started it. I found that you can buy an imported parts kit which includes all parts with the exception of the receiver which was torch cut before it was shipped to the US to comply with the US laws. The price of these kits really depends on the rarity of the rifle and condition. It was put together using a screw kit, rather than riveting. My one concern with a screw build, was that it may loosen up when fired. Well it remained as tight as the day I built it and only required some drilling and tapping. I used an AKM receiver from Ewbanks Mfg. that came pre-bent and with all holes pre-drilled. It ran under $50 and fit like a glove. The Romanian parts kit ran $99 and was in excellent unfired condition. The AK's are made using 16 parts, of which only 10 of the imported parts are allowed to be used in your build. The new receiver counts as one part. I also bought a new gas piston, trigger group(3 parts), and pistol grip. All told I put about $225 into building it. With this rifle being so simple, I was afraid it wouldn't work, but it spits out bullets like there's no tomorrow. Due to a change in the US importation laws by BATFE, the parts kits will no longer be shipped with the barrel in one piece, so when they run out of the kits the price is sure to rise. Don

Great looking weapon BB if you have any screws loosen you a little epoxy and if you need to take the screw out just heat it up a bit just it doesn't take a lot just warm enough to loosen it up.
