Today I had a little free time, so I decided to go out and put a few chunks of lead down range. I had bought a new box of Federal Power Shok 150 grainers, but did little more with them than just off hand until today. I really wanted to see how they performed, so I set up my rest and went shooting. 5 rounds at 100 yds, over a bench. WOW!!! That aint bad for a rookie! I was actually very impressed about two holes touching, and two more within that close. I had that low/right flyer, but that was the first shot, and I flinched... I have to say, with the exception of the flyer, this is one of my best groups yet. It is still on the vitals of most animals, so I am very impressed with the ammo, as well as my shooting! I didn't measure the group, but you can see that it isn't too big, that is a quarter laying between the main group and my flub.

Savages are notoriously great shooting guns (got the same model in .270). Got yourself a winner for sure.

I have found my perfect weapon with a savage and federal ammo as well. I had a target last year with 3 shots at 150 yards with a 243. All 3 shots were touching and yuo could really only make out two holes. They are extremely accurate. I out-shot my gunsmith that had a Rugar, a buddy who is a cop with a Remingtom and another friend with a Browning all with that Savage.

I don't know what they are doing but, they are doing it nice. The first couple of years I was shooting remington ammo in my savage then, I had my buddy pick me up a box on the way out. They were out of remington and he got Federal Premiums because he likes them. Well, after a bunch of doubt, I shot them. Low and behold, the groups were touching at 100 and 150 yards. I now am hooked on the FP's!

Federal does make some good ammo. Let's face it if they don't sell ammo, they got nothing else to fall back on. I like the fact that they've been taking advantage of the premium bullets that once were only available if you were a reloader. A lot of ammo companies are getting on that bandwagon. Don
