I can't believe it myself. I have always hated Simmons scopes, but I went and spent cash money for one anyway. I have been looking for a scope to, can you believe this, replace the crappy Simmons scope that came with my Winch. Mod. 70, so what do I buy? Another Simmons scope! This one is their Master Pro-Hunter series, a fixed power 6X40. Cabelas had it in their Bargain Cave for $49.00 and it usually goes for $89.00. The counter guy even threw in a pair of Butler Creek flip open scope caps for that price. I had wanted a 6X scope and this one looked good to me, so I may have to revise my previous opinion of Simmons scopes. Time will tell. Here it is on the new Winchester Mod. 70: Don

I have owned 2 Simmons scopes, both 4-12 power. One was an older Presidentual Gold and still great and the newer Prohunter and they have AO. Have had better luck with them than Redfield and Bushnell and Tasco. Thinking of Atec model and the Nikon's.

The only trouble I had from a Simmons was with the scope on my .270. Mailed it back and they replaced it. All it cost was about $8 for round trip shipping. I even ended up with a better quality scope than I had. Simmons has made leaps and bounds in the quality of thier scopes in the last 5 years...

I have the 2.8/10*44 AETEC on my 17HMR and it's a great scope. It's bright, eye relief is constant and point of aim is consistent at all magnifications. There's a bunch of squirrels in East Tennessee who can vouch for it!!

Welcome Julian.... The Aetec is supposedly one great scope. I havent had the pleasure of using one, but I may one day. Of course, I may skip that and go straight to a Leupold. Only time will tell. Welcome again...

Juliang, WELCOME! Much like Tasco, BSA, or Bushnel, Simmons scopes in general don't have the best of reputations. Each of these companies does have a higher priced line of scopes, such as the Aetec and it was always considered a pretty great scope. They do seem to be improving on many of their scopes lately. The one that came with the rifle was their 8-point 3-9x40 scope and the power adjustment ring is so stiff you have to lower the rifle to grip it enough to change settings. Natchez sells the 8-point for $24.95 and it shows. I should send it back to Simmons for a replacement. I had been reading some articles lately by Jon Sundra of Rifleman magazine. He always recommends 6x scopes and sort of talked me into trying one. I had looked at 6x scopes in Weavers K series and Nikon's Monarch, but the price on this one had it's own appeal. I tried it at the range today and it seems to work out pretty good. I'll know better when I get a deer in it's crosshairs. Don
