Running out of windage sounds like a scope mounting problem. I usually make sure the scope is set at it's zero position, centered between adjustments, and then mount it with the bore sighter installed. That way you can make adjustments by tightening one side more than the other to adjust it's alignment. Don

Thats a good idea! I was told to swap the mounts around, the old timer that told me that said that it works everytime.

That H&R doesn't recoil all that bad BB. At least mine doesn't bother me until I'm into the 50th or so round of the match. It is a whole lat better than the Trapdoor was. That thing could hurt if not done right when holding. Especially if using anything near to factory+ level 500 grain loads.
And maybe just try to ream/align the scope rings with some of the correct tools. That could be it also.

Well, it didn't work so I had to shim the mounts at the gun and that worked good. I'm going to shoot it Friday, I will let you know how it goes.

Midway carries offset ring inserts for that situation. I've never had one that required them, but they seem to be the answer. Burris 1" Signature Ring Pos-Align Offset Inserts Installation Kit .005, .010 and .020
These offset inserts work only in Burris Signature Rings. They are offered as a matched pair (two halves) in three different offsets, a set of all three and a box of ten each (Product number 712472). One insert half is slightly thicker and the other slightly thinner than standard. Swapping the standard inserts with a pair of offset inserts will move the point of impact approximately 5" at 100 yards for the .005 inserts, 10" for the .010 and 20" for the .020. This will allow a gun to be sighted in that cannot be zeroed with the available windage and elevation adjustments in the scope. For serious shooters, the optional offset inserts allow a scope to be brought almost to complete zero, then using the windage and elevation adjustments only for the final, fine adjustment. This keeps the erector tube centered in the scope for improved scope clarity and performance. Here's the web page for them: www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=712472Don

Bubba, I don't use Trapdoor loads. Don OK, OK, so I'm not using Garret level loads, they still have a cumulative effect after shooting as many as I do within a few hours. As I have said before, my old loads needed to be under the Marlin levels as dictated by the receiver strength that I was using. And the stuff in the Marlin, well that has been decided upon because of much the same reason. 30-50 loads fired at one shoot does tend to leave one dishevelled at the least by the end of the day.

I've been teasing a friend in Texas for years now, about his 45/70 loads bouncing three times before reaching the target. He's a big believer in pistol powder loads for many cartridges. He shoots a NEF Handy rifle. Don
