I finally made up my mind and ordered a set of the XS ghost rings sights for the Marlin 1895. It's hard to pick a sight that you like when you can't actually try them on the rifle. Hopefully I like these. Don

Midway sells them for $79.99. I have seen them on sale for $69.99, but of course not when I go to order them. ;D Two things that bother me about these sights is the fact that they set a bit high, leaving me to hope I don't bang them on anything while hunting, and that they might not be the best thing to use for testing new loads at 100 yards. My main reason for getting them is the speed of target acquisition out to 100 yards in areas that I don't expect shots to go beyond that distance.

Those are nice, but I think I would rather have the front sight as a dot. Let us know how they do Don.

You can also get the wings for on the side of the rear base that protects the ghost ring. I'd recommend that option in case you plan on having any rough handling with the rifle. Wish that the Williams could do that....

Bubba, Midway doesn't show it with the wings, but I'll look on XS's site and see if they sell them separately.

That's where you most likely will see them. IIRC, they might also be offered at brownells.

I checked Brownells and they get $120 for the sight set with the wings. I guess those are $40 wings? I wonder if I can make some?

psycho, That was my thoughts also. They look like they just attach to the sides. Making them shouldn't be a problem. I'll at least give it a $40 try.

The XS ghost ring sights came in the mail today. I mounted them on the 1895 and I'm very happy with the fit, finish and ease of installation. The sights come with both a .231" and .191" aperature and after trying both I decided on the smaller .191". I have to try them at the range, but I think I love them already. They seem to point very quick and naturally. Don
