I wanted to do something different with the pistol grip cap on my Marlin 1895. It came with a black plastic cap, but I wanted wood. On my first try I used cherry wood and sanded it to fit, then used the original brass screw to attach it. When I finished it, I didn't care for the look of the screw so I changed it again. This time I added a piece of walnut and used the cherry wood as a spacer between the stock and the added walnut. I think I like it this way a lot better. BTW-The stock was refinished EACH time using tung oil. Don

How did you attach it? Did you use threads that were screwed into the cap?

How did you attach it? Did you use threads that were screwed into the cap? Doc, It's drilled, doweled, and glued under the cap so the dowels don't show through. I'm sure that's stronger than if it were screwed. Notice I posted that picture all on my own? ;D Thanks again for all the ones you had done for me. Don
