Doc, A 30/30 revolver? ;D Is that revolver an Uberti? Don I was thinking more along the lines of both being .45LC...LOL. Yes, it is a Uberti SAA. Great shooter. Hammer spring is a little tight, but the trigger spring is fantastic.

I was never able to use my 30-30 in NY, No rifles in the Southern zone where I hunted. I had no problem using a rifle up in Delaware Co. when I lived in New York State. Took my first deer there with a Marlin .35 back in '74. Don

I was on the border of Delaware and Otsego Co. Delaware was rifle and Otsego shotgun. I'd love to take a ride up there one day. I doubt I'd recognize it anymore. They were just starting to build Rt. 88 up in that area when I was there. Don

I have a Model 94 Winchester and also My grand fathers model 92 2520 Calibar patened in 1892. Havent had the first bit of problems. as far as ejecting out the top , I dont use a scope just iron sights. . GJ if you have the 64 mod. 94 Hold on to that baby Its worth some jingles.... even before Winchester shut its doors and closed the plant the 64 and pre 64 was worth $$$$$.
To the soooting of it, I cant remember who make it but there is a peep sight that mounts to the left side by removeing a screw and putting it back with the peep. Also Hornady makes a special load . The 165 grain lever evaloution. good for shots up to 200 yards. I have shot them at the bench and compaired them to Federal and a couple of others. This you can take to the bank they are the best loads I have ever shot through my winchester Hands down. There a little pricy but in my OP are fantastic.

Pennsylvania is over 300 miles from bottom to top. Took me 7. 1/2 hours to get to the farm, drom Maryland.. The Rifle area mentioned might be around a 6 hr drive from DAN.
My Winchester 94 is owned by my favorite Son-inlaw.. ( a real Mountain man ).. It was pre 2nd World War, a Submarine issue.. It has a flip up elivation rear site with the buck horn when down.. The front had a small blade. The gun always shot high. I pulled the blade out, and replaced it with one that I made from the round flat of a Key.. Where you aimed is where the bullet hole would be..

As for my late reply....the only Winchester that I'll shoot is a 92 model. I can't begin to enjoy the 94 action in any form. Don't like the way it feels, "actions", or much of anything else. The 92, on the other hand, is something that has a great "feel" for me, works wonderfully, and I like the strength of the action. Just wish that Winchester would have just upsized the 92 for the longer length cartridges instead of changing the guts completely. And as for the 95 Wins....have held one in .405 and can say that it didn't really stir much of anything in the heart either.
Give me a Marlin. That will satiate my desires.
