175-200 without scope.. 225-250 with scope
I wouldnt pay anymore than that, especially for a winchester..

I think it would also greatly depend on how used it was. They have gone way up in price in the last year, but the new ones are even more sought after. Anything over $250 and I'd look at a new Marlin 336 instead. Don

I had a Nice one, once. My son in-law has it now, ( 30-30 ), It is a Navy model, used on a Submarine to shoot Sharks when sailors took a swim break.. Bought it 1964 for $ 40.00.. Thought I would buy a Cheapy to use as a loaner for my neighbor... I have the Hi Point 9mm for myself, for the time being.. Prefer my Special SHOT GUN for DEER, though.. Actually, I would like an older 30-30 with Screws, as to Expansion pins.

Why on earth would anybody want to hunt deer with a MARLIN ? How ya gonna git close enough to STICK EM, with th bill... ;D Marlins are so much better than those (gag) winchesters.. I had a winchester 30-30 10 years ago,and hated the gun.. Traded it in for a winchester 1300 pump shotgun with slug barrel.. That top ejection, or angle eject sucks..

I checked a few shops locally and found one used Win. 94. It was well used with some finish worn off the receiver and the usual assortment of hunting dings and scratches on the stock, but otherwise in good functioning order. They were asking $189.00 for it. I had given it a look with an eye to refinishing the stock, reblueing the receiver, but only for it's future resale value. Don

If it had Screws, and prominent Rifling. It probably is worth it.. As you know, a bunch of Cheapies were made around the 60's,, wouldn't want one of those..

I havent found any problems with my Winchester 94. It has killed alot of deer. It is my first rifle and has been shared with my neice and nephew until they got their own rifles. I used it this past season on several hunts too.

I was never able to use my 30-30 in NY, No rifles in the Southern zone where I hunted. I have heard that the down side with them, is when a SCOPE was put on it.. the top eject would cause problems.. I do like the looks of a MARLIN, but for some reason the sound of WINCHESTER MOD 94, has a "ring" to it..

I had to turn my scope so that the up and down became the left right and the left right became the up down. That is the only draw back I have had with my mine.

Both are great shooters, just wish that they were the same caliber.
