Well I bought an older Savage from our friend a few months back and now it's almost finished. It has a BC stock, a DedNutz one piece scope mount, Nikon Monarch 3/9*40 and an adjusted trigger. The time is now 3.15 am and in an hour it'll be on a tree stand with me. I never realised that a 7mm Rem Mag could be this accurate, but it is, and I love it. I enclose a pic with my first 3 handloaded round grouping. The cloverleaf on the right is the 7mm. The 2 shots towards the left are my 243, another experimental load. I am really happy with this Savage and all the goodies that I put on it. The one piece scope mount is awesome, the only mount I could find to put a short 3/9 scope onto a long action. I have one on my 22mag as well, these are great scope mounts, gotta love a 1 piece mount for reliability.

Most interesting Thread.. The information , covers an awful lot of what I never thought of.. Very seriously thinking about a one piece mount for my HI-POINT, 9 MM...

juliang, You have a real impressive shooter there! Is your stock a Carbelite or Duramax. I have been looking at both of them from Bell and Carlson. I know the Duramax is pillar bedded, but I'm not sure if the Carbelite is. It may even have a full aluminum bedding, but I haven't been able to find out. Most of the Duramax stocks are advertised as having a varmint width barrel channel, how is the stock to barrel fit on yours? While I want a little room between the barrel and stock, I don't want a huge gap either. I love the idea of a one piece scope mount, but wondered whether it would interfere with loading the blind magazine. Seeing how much you like yours, I may have to hunt one down. Talley makes some nice mounts also. Not a one piece like you have, but one piece in as much as the rings and mount are all one piece. You need two of them, but it does away with the concern of your rings coming loose from the mount. Don

Hi Don, This rifle really is a shooter, I can't tell you how much that adds to my hunting experience, yep I am anal!!! The stock I have is the Duramaxx, the Carbelite is a little more pricey and from their catalogue it is unclear what extra the Carbelite offers. The channel width is for a varmint weight barrel but looks fine with a sporter weight, it is certainly free floating!! I really wanted the Medallist which is aluminum bedded but didn't want to spend the extra money. The Duramaxx is a good weight, great recoil pad and overall recoil is about the same as my Tikka lite in 308, the Tikka has a great stock but it is very light!!I have the Talley rings you mentioned on the Tikka, the DedNutz rings are better and don't interfere with loading the blind magazine, or even single shot loading. The DedNutz are $55, available from their website.

juliang, Thanks! I put a Duramax stock in tan with spiderweb on my Xmas wish list. My kids used to wait each year for the Sears wishbook to come out, but I can make a heck of a list just from the Midway website. Don
