Doc, I had read about this proposal about a month ago. What's really interesting is that Remington had just been bought up this past year by a private equity firm called Cerberus Capital Management who also bought out Chrysler Corp. They had to pay $118 million for Remington and assume $252 million in debt. Now they are using the Remington name to buy up Marlin along with H+R/NEF. I'm not sure I like the idea of Marlin being run from the board room where I'm sure the bottom line will affect the future rather than their love of firearms. Time will tell how this plays out. Don

That sucks about the huge company buying up Remington. I had heard nothing about it. Like you, I hope that it doesnt revolve solely around money and stays with the love of hunting and firearms.

It sort of makes me wonder what would happen if the anti-gun groups started spending all their Hollywood cash buying up gun companies and closing their doors. Don

lloyd, WELCOME! My first centerfire rifle was a Marlin .35, I took my first buck with that rifle. Somewhere along the way my Brother-in-law ended up with it. I always loved that rifle and just found one to replace it a few weeks back. You don't hear much about the .35 Rem., but there are a lot of guys that still hunt with them and they still do a heck of a job on deer. Don

Jer, I'm hoping they leave Marlin as is. I haven't been told one way or the other, but we may already be seeing Remington's influence with Marlin's new bolt action rifle. BTW, My first buck was taken in Delaware Co. in New York State. Don
