.22 at 20 yds., open sights
This is my daughter's first time shooting a real gun. I had tried to get her into it before, but she just wasn't into it and wouldn't pay attention. Then she started playing Big Game Hunter at Wal-mart and is really good at it. She does the Elk hunt in Canada and gets several triples(perfect rounds) and several doubles. So she started wanting to shoot for real. So I got out my Marlin Model 60 and took it when we went to my father-in-laws today. I spent about an hour going over gun safety and how the gun works and showing her what it was like to shoot it.
In the first pic, the center grouping is mine with my first shot marked. This was during the time of explaining gun safety and how the rifle works. After I was confident enough to let her try it, her first shot stacked on my first shot shot. WOW what a first shot ever. ;D Then, as you can tell, she started dropping. She was having trouble getting steady because she was aiming too long and I showed her how to control her breathing and about squeezing the trigger and not pulling it.
The second target is all her. She started out low but got herself
under control and started moving up very quickly. Her last three shots are the three on the right. Two stacked up and one above them. I think she did a real good job.
Now she can't wait until next weekend to shoot some more and has asked about taking her Hunters Safety Course and hunting. I will see if she sticks with it and if she does then I will hook her up. Makes a daddy proud. ;D
