Jer, I haven't seen the Mossberg in the stores yet, but have heard of some that were bought. They paid $420 for the rifle which I think will come down a bit after they become more available. Don

Henry has a good reputation also, so I wonder if the either of the rifles are Stamped Parts with Pins instead of screws..

I received my CATALOG today.. Those Rifles look nice.. Don't know about the 30/30 selling much. Price seems high. At $ 749.50. I dont see any Pins in the Rifles, all screws. and the wood is nice.. I bought my Lever 22 from a dealer, New in the box, for $ 185.00 so guess the thiing to do, is to ask a dealer, for a quote..

Looking through a Gun Auction, I ran across a MOSSBERG Lever 30/30.. Used 1972 - 74.. SOOO. Mossberg has been making Lever 30/30's for awhile. This Model is a 472.. Wonder what the Difference will be..

Jer, The Model 472 looks like a Marlin 336. I believe that Marlin had made them for Mossberg. Marlin had done that with several of the catalog stores in the past. Usually they have wood of a lesser quality and that appears to be the case with this Model 472. Here's a photo of one. Don

Yes, Don.. that looks the same.. The close up. appeared to show PINS, as to Screw bolts. It's a heck of a pickle. when us ( northerners ;D ) have to decide between a used 30/30 for half the cost of that nice HENRY..

What is wrong with a used rifle?? I have owned several and still do. They shoot just as nice as a new one AND you save money to spend on accesories. The .30-30 I have now was bought used and I still have it, shoots great. Just so you know, it was made in the late 60's(from research). I received it in 1985 and I try to hunt with it every year. That makes 23 years of hunting with a used rifle. I like a brand new rifle as much as the next person, but as long as it is new to me, I am happy.

I've been checking with my local dealer every few days to see if had any .30-30s traded in. I'm looking for another deal like I got on the Marlin .35. I actually prefer that to a new one. I've owned both Marlin and Winchester and while I like the slim stocks on the Winchester, I like the action of the Marlin better. If I do find a used Marlin, I plan to slim the forend down a bit. The only reason I didn't do that on the .35 is because of the very different style of that perch belly forend used during that period. Don
