Do you use deer scents while hunting? If so, what do you use, and how do you disperse it?
I only use estrous scent when the rut is starting to fire up, and continue to use it for the rest of the season.. I have always either used a scrape dripper or used the 35mm film canisters filled with cotton balls. Both those are great ways to leave estrous scent for the love drunk bucks.
This year I will be doing a few scent drags, hoping one will follow the scent road to death. Ive never done one, but feel, if you are in buck territory, it can and will work wonders. Once a buck picks up a trail, it will be more natural for him to put his nose to the ground and follow it out.. Then by leaving it hang on a branch about 4-5 feet up will get some wind travel and also give you a place for the deer to stop and investigate, while you line up the crosshairs.
I have been making some drags for the coming week of muzzleloader season.. I hope the moon doesnt affect what I have been seeing. I made the drags out of yard and thred. I will post pics of some later.. They are very easy to make, and extremely cost effective.. You can get a whole roll of yarn for $2 and a spool of 500yards of thread for under $1.. Thats a lot of drags, let me tell you..

I have used them some but, it never really did anything that impressed me. I quit using them years ago and just let nature take it's course. I feed the deer well and keep doe in my areas year round. A live doe is the best buck attractant that you will ever have. I've tried dragging then I just went to putting the scent in a spray bottle and then spraying it on the bottom of my rubber boots, walk about 40 or 50 yards and spray them again. Here in Louisiana, the rut stretches out over several months so, you would practially be waisting your time and money here, in my opinion. Good luck and tell us how it does. We expect to see some big buck pics that you killed as the results. ;D
