A few days ago, I came across a large hardwood bottom I didn't know I had access to. Anyway, there are fresh scrapes and rubs everywhere. Yesterday, I hung a lock on in there over looking where I expected big boy to show up. We had a cold front move in with Northernly winds so, I set up South West of the scraps. I hunted this morning, it was a perfect morning and a perfect set up but, no deer. This afternoon, the wind direction changed back to coming out of the South West. I was hoping that possibly he would show up from South of me. Right at dark, here comes this really nice buck. He comes right where I expected him to come the first time which now, the wind was not in my favor. I get ready, see deer, see horns and wheeewwwww whewwwww wheww, he scents me as he was coming in from the North. Oh well, I have 3 more months. He will mess up again with the wind in my favor. That's why they call it deer hunting!

Dang wind. Thats what I dont like about hunting in the woods. To much swirling, but the deer seem to love the woods. Just hunt it and let the wind do what it will....

I'm debating on going back there this evening. It is hotter than yesterday with the wind the same. It is a 20 minute walk there and I will get all sweaty again.
I went out this morning to a different spot, a food plot here around the house. As I was walking up on one end, a yearling doe was walking in the other. I just squatted down and had the gun up. She wandered to within 35 yards of me, eating corn and nibbling the grasses. I let her walk. She turned her back and I stood up and stepped to the side and walked off and she never knew I was there.
