Yeah, didn't realize it would come thru that large. I think I've got it figured out now. Next time I'll post it better.

Great deer and congrats. Looks like you are doing good on the bucks this year.
I fixed it for you. What is that lump on his side in that 2nd pic?

The lump must be his hide being rough up. That was the side I dragged him on. After I skinned him, there wasn't anything odd. Shooting a 30.06, the bullet exited on the other side. Straight shot thru the lungs. But, it also had some exit holes at the neck. Could a bullet shatter that much. About three small holes. Never saw that before. Been shooting same bullet for years, Springfield 150gr. power point (s.p.).

Could have been from where you drug him out. I have never seen that either.

If not, maybe it was just puncture wounds from a fight or something. Congrats on the buck. I like them dark racks. That is the type of genetics that I have around my hunting area.

That's a fine lookin' buck! Those exit holes could be from the bullet. Usually the closer the shot the more likely the bullet will fragment, especially high velocity rounds. As Progers said, it could also be bone fragments. Either way, that's one nice buck. Congrats! Don

I looked at this other day and meant to reply. That is a nice buck. Man that is pretty rack. I would be making european mount out of that sucker.

Never heard of euro mount. Already removed from skull. Looking for something bigger for a head mount. Going to Chuck Swan. Going blind. Hopefully, I can find a hollar with plenty food, scrapes and horning. I here it is a hard place to hunt. Deer look for you in the trees. Probably, hunt from a blind or stalk. Depends on what kind of sign is present.

European or skull mounts are nice in my opinion. And you can do them yourself. I will take a pic of one that I have on a 6pt. that the rack looks real similar to the one you have here, just not near the mass as what yours has.
