And I know folks have been in the woods. Has everybody been screwed up by the bumper crop of acorns. I have been a little bit, but have seen deer. I went Wed. and saw 1 doe that morning and then went that evening and saw 5 does. I was hunting white oaks and persimmons that evening and the deer would not come to them. they just kept eating these white flowers on some weeds . I guess I will give it a go this weekend, but limited again as I am in a wedding Saturday . Hows everybody else doing.

I'm sure that I added my input here, but for some reason, it didn't appear.. I haven't had the chance to get out yet, Rain for the last 4 days. I got the Farmall Tractor home, now I can ride it into the valley, and see what the prospects ,of my Honey Hole are.Raining again.. cold, almost ready to sleet. Things have to dry up..

Went this morning on Percy and saw 4. I had two does come in at about 75 yard s and feed on white oak acorns then move away from me at about 7:30. Then at 8:30 had two more come in at about 45 yards and feed around. Got within 30 yards, but I did not have a shot. Probably for the best though, when they got in close I realized it was a really small spike and a button buck. Small bucks, but the first ones I have seen while on stand this year.

I tried that this morning, unfortunately they other guy that I knew was hunting in the area got there 5 minutes before me (public land) so I forfeited the area to him. Went this evening and got wet and no deer, but I found a good tree to climb about 20 yards from those acorns and I am pretty confident that if I can get in there without the rain I should get a shot.

BC, not in college anymore. working full-time nowadays. actually pushin 50 hrs this week.
This week hasnt been near as active as last week. Saturday mornin: 2 bucks (2yr old 8pt and 6pt), 7 does Sunday mornin: skunked Tuesday mornin: skunked Thursday mornin: skunked
It seems that the acorns got the deer to where they dont have to move much to find food. the farm ive been spending most my time on is 30 acres of nothing but open hardwoods loaded with acorns. i can see up to 150 yards in any direction form my tree but the deer just havent been filtering through there like normal. thinkin the moon phase has them feedin mostly at night because the deer sign is everywhere, especially around any white oak and pin oak. goin to try my spot closer to town where the pics of Sampson came from in the morning.

saw 7 does this evenin. they picked up my wind at 12 yards and blew out. coulda waxed any one of them but didnt want to miss any of the LSU vs. Florida game to run a deer to the processing plant. watched 3 young bucks fightin out infront of the dominoes off hwy 99 by the interstate again last night. they're gettin more aggressive. 2 weekes ago they would just barely tickle the horns a little bit. last night they were really pushin eachother around and goin at it pretty good. startin to get really excited for the 2nd week of november when i'll be in KY for an entire week!

Saw 7 does myself last night deer were moving good. Had 3 come in right at dark and one gave me a broadside shot at 19 yds. I hit her high between the lungs and spine. Basically hit her backstrap. found the arrow (clean passthrough) had a thin layer of blood from tip to fletching, but not a drop of blood on the ground. I guess I forgot to account for her drooping when i shot. Followed the kicked up earth where she ran for 200 yds to a thicket, still no blood. I suppose she will live, but it makes me mad when I get an easy oppertunity and make a mistake that cost me a deer.
