All of these are super sweet looking rifles. I really like the one below! All it needs is a camo job.

Doc, I like the bolt handle on that one. They are available at a decent price and fairly easy to change out with just an allen wrench. I think I could easily get talked into a project like this. Weak as water huh? Don

Oh wow! I really like those... After pretty much dismissing the sniper stock for the thumbhole, it has made a come back.

My only problem with the Choate sniper stock is the weight. While the extra weight can come in handy to steady the gun from a rest, if it's to be carried at all it will seem excessive. That stock alone weighs 6lb. 5oz.. Add to that the weight of the Savage 110 and a scope, and your facing a rifle that weighs maybe 14lbs. I really like the Bell and Carlson Carbelite or Duramaxx stocks for the money. They run abut $170-$99, are available from Midway, and come in your choice of camo styles, solid colors with black spiderweb, or basic black! Here's a link to the stocks that Midway offers for the Savage 110, including both the Choate and Bell and Carlson. Man I really want to order one, like right now....... I really want a thumbhole though as well... Has anyone ordered any wood thumbhole for your rifle? If so were any modifications needed and what kind? I am not real excited about finding a wood stock because of the possibility of some work that I am afraid I will screw up.

also, one stupid question. I think I know, but wanna be absolutely sure... What is long and short action? The new shorter ammo vs the original ammo lengths?

Short/long action is the in regards to the cartridge length. A .243 and .308 would be considered short action. A .30-06 and .270 would be considered long action. A short action cartridge doesnt require the bolt to be "pulled back" as far as a long action rifle does. That is the best I can explain it simply.
