Jer, I know you said Russian, but is it really a Russian made SKS? I ask because you don't see many actual Russian versions but rather Soviet Com-Bloc guns mostly Yugoslavian. Actual Russian made guns command a much higher price. In like new condition a Yugo Mod. 59/66 will sell for around $230. One point of concern with heavily used Yugoslavian rifles is the condition of the bore. The price on these has been rising. I bought one a few years back for $115. They are very good semi-auto rifles for the money. Here's a link to some SKS rifles for sale, just to give you a good overview of prices: www.gunsamerica.com/Search/Category/634/SKS-Rifles.htmHere an unissued Yugo for a great price: www.gunsamerica.com/classifieds/none/_976860617.aspx# Bolt action Russian Mosin-Nagant rifles in absolutely great condition like this one can be had for under $100 and are probably the BEST buy in military surplus. Then again, you didn't ask about them. Don

If it's all you say it is, go for it. Even if you decide you didn't want it later, you could easily make a few dollars on it. As you can see, the Russian versions are selling for $289 - $500 on Guns America. You might also want to check to see if all the parts have matching factory numbering on them. That will tell you if parts were switched and also lessens the price a bit. Most were re-arsenaled for future use and at that time had any worn or broken parts changed out. One with all original matching numbers saw little if any use. Don

The Neighbor that told me about it, Wanted to buy it, but can't afford it. He said that the Clip was original. I will get pictures, and more Info on here after I get it.. ---- Got a look at the Rifle, same serial number on all parts includeing the Stock.. The Rifle is in good condition except some flaking off of Varnish.. The Sling is on the Left side.. My neighbor decided that he wanted the rifle for himself. Told the Owner that he would give him $ 125.00 for it. I don't believe for one minute that he will be able to pay for it. If that happens, it comes to me for $ 125.00. --- Got 3 more pictures that wont upload..

That is exactly like the first rifle/gun I bought after turning 18. It was NIB and was covered in cosmoline(sp). I paid $109 tax and all for it. It took me about 4 hours to get all of the cosmoline off of it, I thought. I had it completely disassembled and scrubbed everything. That stuff was coming from all kinds of places everytime I shot it. I eventually sold it for $150. I still wish I had it, but am glad I sold it too.

I know exactly what you mean Doc... I feel the same way about that 303 British that I used to have.. About the SKS, I wasn't looking for one, didn't plan on buying one, Don't want to spend the money for the one that the Neighbor filched from me, so WHY am I upset over a $ 400 to $ 500.00 RIFLE that I could have had for $ 125.00.. :... dear God, don't tell me that I've caught THE GREEDY DISEASE.? >:(o

NOPE, Didn't get it. yet anyway.. The neighbor knows what it's worth. Wanted me to sell it for him, and split the profit. I REFUSED.. It's one thing to get a bargain from a friend, but something else if a friend is taken avantage of for profit. My neighbor would part with that for TWO 30-30's, one being a Winchester 98.. Any offers, tell me, & I will tell him..

Let me just clarify the last sentence.
The seller of the SKS would trade it for (2) 30-30 leveractions? Or did I get this wrong....?

That is correct... He is nuts about the Winchester model 98. some could be found for $ 150.00, two would amount to $ 300.00 for a $ 400, to $ 500.00 Rifle.. maybe less if one of the 30-30s was a bolt action.. Maybe he might trade for a really nice looking Winchester Lever..
